Abstract

The behavior of the Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) is affected by wind speed, type of generator used and the conversion technology adopted. The power management in a stand-alone wind turbine installation has to be carefully studied due to the random aspect of the wind distribution. In this paper, a solution based on power segmentation methodology by using the H-Bridge cascaded inverters is proposed. This kind of converter is adapted to the situation of identical and non-identical continuous DC wind turbine sources. The symmetrical phase disposition pulse width modulation (PDPWM) control is used and its limitations are presented.
