Abstract

In this article, the method of nullifying the radiation pattern of a symmetric linear antenna array in one or more particular directions is propounded using Real-Coded Genetic Algorithm. The method of genetic algorithms is used to determine an optimum set of antenna element separations that provide a radiation pattern with deeper nulls in one or two desired direction. The effectiveness of genetic algorithms for the design of non-uniform linear arrays is shown by means of experimental results. Element spacing d is taken to be between and thus enabling the design of compact multiple antenna terminals.
